The Word Snitch

Some people have suggested that we not use the name Snitch On Murder for our site, saying most people don’t like a snitch or want to be known as one.  Last week I made a call to the sixth district to get some information on a case that was reported solved by Fox 5 News. I spoke with a Sargent John Young, about the case of Mary Alice Pratt, who was murder in her home in 1999, and asked him to check our site , after I gave him the name of our site, he said: That’s not ( concerning our site name) good. I asked him to check out our site before making a judgement, he said Ok.

In the mid fifities, I can remember some books using the word gay in a way that was for some one who was happy, sprited and likeable, gay was a good word, later in life, gay became a word that was degrading and use to put down some people,  most people were in hiding and did not want to be called gay, now for the most part gay is celebrated and embrace by most people both famous and not so famous, it’s not the word, its how the word is put to use that makes it good or bad.

Years ago if you called most people of color the N word (Nigger) or if you called a person a black nigger, you  might have a fight on your hands, today the word black is embrace by most ( we have a black President) people as good . Some people under the age of forty use the word nigger  ( my nigger) as a term of brotherhood .  Snitch when use to tell on a person who has taken the life of another human should be a good thing, something that people are thankful for someone coming forward to  … yes, snitch to get a murderer off of our streets,  a person who has done the worse act in life of taking another person life. The word snitch should be no worse  or degrading of a word then gay, black, nigger or any other word is or use to be, if it does good in getting a person guilty of murder off of our streets. Snitch should be a word of beauty, if it does that.

A Thought

With all of the killings that have taken place doing the last ten years, of our babies, cousins, sisters, brothers etc., we know that many people out here have heard seen or know of something that could help to put these murderers behind bars, we know that some people out there choose to celebrate with these murders, brown nosing and finding companionship with them a tailor – made thing. Some of their friends lie, steal or borrow for their murderous so-called friend (s). Most of these same persons will holler and scream for assistance when and if murder knocks at their door. People who harbor fear of reporting even the tiniest point of a murder, gossip behind close doors, of whom did what to who, but will not pick the phone up to give a call to help solve a murder, it is those of you who help to keep these horrible acts alive, some of you think going to church or being a good neighbor, doing your job and minding your business is all you need to do in life, will think different if and when murder knocks at your door.

Those Mothers, Fathers, Aunts and Uncles who bite their tongue to keep from reporting against the evil of murder, you too are to blame. A murder should have no resting place in our neighborhood, does one rest behind your door ?. Do you sleep well at night knowing of a murder that you have not really unfold to?.

Murder is the most vicious act of all crimes, it affects families and friends for the rest of their lives, some of you reading this, know this, because you have loss one or more persons to the vicious act of murder. If you have not, hope and pray , you never do. Snitch is a kind word, murder is a vicious word, I hope you are able to snitch before you become a victim of murder. Don’t wait too long, it”s not too late to report the smallest detail of a murder in your life, murder is a word you should not have to die holding on to. Free your heart, report any act of murder, it’s the very least you can do, in this cherish life.
