Every year in America an estimated 800,000 children are reported missing, more than 2,000 children each day. Of that number, 200,000 are abducted by family members, and 58,000 are abducted by non-family members. The primary motive for non-family abductions is sexual. Each year 115 children are the victims of the most serious abductions, taken by non-family members and either murdered, held for ransom, or taken with the intent to keep.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) wants to remind the public that National Missing Children’s Day is May 25th. The organization wants parents to know there are things they can do to keep their children safer and it urges parents to take 25 minutes to talk to their children about their safety. NCMEC has produced these safety tips as a part of its Take 25 national child safety campaign. Read more at www.missingkids.com
DREAM A LITTLE DREAM
To dream a dream that I have dreamed, is to dream of the impossible, in this planet of debauchery.
To watch television without depreciating the human mind, is obsolete.
To listen to music with decadent or blasphemous words is to be open- minded
To go to a public school without soda, candy, and condoms, is impractical.
To be in a society where the essentials for the language include
“CHINK, KIKE, NIGGER, HONEKY, SPIC,GUIDO,” IS OUTLANDISH.
For me the knowledge of these things, portrays what society can instill in ones mind.
To have not love within, is to remain forever love without.
Attain an impossible dream is this, is only plausible in the Land of Paradise.

A Poem ~ Michael’s Morning Madness (To my Mom)
I was a good boy with dark eyes of joy, hope and life. I crawled, took steps, was loved and adored. I was a growing boy with many kin and friends. I looked toward those of my family, and follow in some of their ways. My body yearn to please, and fill the wishes of my friends, and family, my hope and dreams lead me to follow some roads that were not what my mama would want, but still, she loves me.
I was young, wild, doing and making ends with those around me, working the dark side of streets. Those who moan me , some my blood and crew who mode my street life, helped me to my final place. Too many late nights with the wrong motives, wrong moves, wrong crowd, being the tool to use. But still I had my life ahead, to change, to make my peoples proud, so I thought, I had my smile and my street look, few knew the real me, not even you.
I was young on my last night, when my blood left my body, it cried out in passing through my veins, before it did in life. One early morning, I spent blood on my hands, that never washed off, with some who where near my fate. I never thought, I would feel that lifelessly behind my eyes, but in my last, his fate drew near. I have little of worth to fill your hearts, minds or pockets, but I know now of something that I can leave you, to carry you through this time. Know first, there is God, and know, what I know now, Murder is wrong, on any Hands. 2/2001

Why are There 4000 Unsolved Murders in the Nation’s Capitol?
Today I was reading the Washington Post. I had just finished reading the obituary of Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale lived a rich full life. He was successful in two different careers. He was a standout in the NBA, and he also enjoyed great success as a jazz musician. I glanced to the next page and a picture of a young man caught my attention. His story was quite different from Tisdale’s. The young man’s name was Damion Mikel King and the caption beneath the picture showed he was born Sept. 13, 1977 and he died May 16, 2000. This information was followed by this statement “One of the 4000 plus unsolved city homicides.” The chance of someone being charged with the murder of King at this point is between slim and nil. It has been 9 years and at this point this case is beyond cold it is in the deep freezer. Why did the police not find his killer? Could it be they are overworked and understaffed? Could it be that they could find no witnesses? Could it be that witnesses are afraid to talk because of fear of reprisal? There are so many possible reasons but the bottom line is this is a young man who died at the age of 23. How does a family move on without any real closure? They move on because they have no choice, and they grieve for their loved one whose legacy is reduced to being one of the 4000 plus unsolved murders in DC.
