It's not too late to speak the truth.

"My hope for the New Year is for everyone with an unsolved killing to find the person who killed them. Turn yourself in and step up to the plate," said 9-year old Cearia Puifory."I also hope that every family who has been hurt by violence...[has] more joy."-Jan. 7, 2006 The Afro American

What Are You Going To Do?

cherishwtArea Police chiefs ended or started the year with news they had reduce homicides last year in their area, and showed stats to back up their words. With all the progress made,  people who have lost someone to a crime with little or no progess would like the area top brass to go after solving the many unsolved homicides on their books, with homicides at a all time low. This especially should be done in Washington, DC with over four thousands unsolved homicides on its books. Last year area homicides results were -

Washington, DC - 2009 - 140 – 2008 – 186

Prince Georges, MD -2009 -100 – 2008 – 135

Montgomery, MD - 2009 – 13 – 2008 – 21

Alexandria,VA - 2009 – 5 – 2008 - 4

Fairfax,VA - 2009 – 11 – 2008 - 19

People should urge officials to get intense new look and investigation into the root of  the murder of a love one.  Those with information need to look at them self in the mirror and ask, if some one murder my Mom, brother, sister, etc., would I want someone with information to come forward?. We made a written request on a case late last year, while the contact has so far been less then what is desireable at this point, the content of this request and action taken will be shared on this site in weeks to come. If you do make a request to have your case reviewed make copies of your request, use certified mail, or a way to track your correspondence for your records, start at the top. What are you going to do?, Don’t wait for the police to knock on your door, to say they are going to look into your unsolved case, if your case is several years old with no moment, contact the top and  make your request. With homicides at an all time low your case  should be give another look, lets begin to close more unsolved cases.

Some cases in the last two months have had more searches then others on this site, the cases of Mary Alice Pratt, Andres Yelicie, Terry and Ryan Strope, and Biniam Gebreyesus . We hope that  moment on these and cases with less searches will get more positive moment this year, do your part to help solve a case.

Dectectives should if they have not,  need to get from behind their desk and do the street work needed in reviewing cases, they should work as if the case they are reviewing, were in its first forty eight hours, all available leads should be double checked to get to whom is responsible for the murder of your love one. Words are good to hear of the lower murder rates from last year, lets now get action, real action on closing some of the many unsolved case. In a January 1, 2010 article by Washington Post writer Allison Klein,  Washington, DC council member Phil Mendelson ( D – At Large), head of the Public Safety and Judiciary Committee, said Last year DC had 23 killings per 100,000 people. In safer big cities, such as New York, the rate is at an all-time low: six per 100,000 people. If we were the same as New York City, we would have less than 40 (homicides) a year.
