Murder Comments

In the recent drive by shootings and murder of Davonta Artis,15 and Daguan Tibbs,18 in Northeast, Washington D.C., some post comments on the Washington (10/14/09) Post web pages about the article title 2 Killed, 3 Hurt in D.C. Drive-By, some comments called areas with high crime, communities of savages, tagging a community for the actions of a few seneless murders, can scare the people who live in areas of high crime, but are not engage or associate with those who foul lives. Some comments pointed to more money for programs, money is not the root to stop drive by killings, while money can help some programs, money is sometime the cause for seeding problems that grow illegal actives. We must must learn to value life over material. There were comments on Mayor Fenty cutting after school programs that a few thought leads some youth down the path to killings, there is need for youth to be busy bees of art and enrichment tools of life programs, if the best help is getting to them in areas of having a positive impact for respect for life, home and one’s neighborhood, that’s where real change can happen, is it easy?, no. Too many folk talk the talk, but will not walk the walk , that’s from the top down or the bottom up, which ever way you care to look at it, in a successful cure, both the top and bottom must come together to put a cap on these murders. Lights, cameras, chief, mayor, show up, speeches and a lead on the evening news, days later, it’s more often then not , no arrest and fades from the radar, only to repeat another date, another victim, another murder. With over 4,000 unsolved murder cases and 6,000 plus murder cases in two decades in our Nations Capitol, talk of a good year if killings does not climb (184 as of 10/17) above 200, does little to ease the pain of murder, knowing any coming year you or a family member could be included in those numbers of murder.
Police and uppper law enforfcement does not help as long as war on drugs/guns are seen as a lost war, in areas where drugs and guns are plentiful, people distrust the police because they see them as not doing their job in getting those who are at or near the top in bringing drugs and guns into communities where they live, this encourages some youth to get into the wrong lane of trying to get the wrong street respect any wrong way then can. Its not the teens who are often in court for drugs or guns that are the root cause of guns and drugs getting ino their neighboroods. If pollice can not stop the inflow of drugs and guns, it will take more time then we want to cure most killings, one simple way may be to follow the example of McDonald’s, that’s right we have to instill minds of folk young and not so young, the right message without McDonald’s budget, too many have allow doing right to flow back in the far corner of their brain. Our youth have been fed with a lot of ads, music, TV, radio, etc., yes, McDonalds hamburgers, fries and shakes, because they advertise very welll and have instill in minds a good place to eat, fast. We have to get out again and again the message to respect life, don’t kill, and snitch on those who do kill, McDonalds has gotten their message out, will we?. The message need to be read, spoken, and worked into the mind, it’s not a quick fix, our childrend have gotten too many wrong messages from a lot of areas regarding drugs, sex, and life, its past time, but time enough to in still the message to cherish life.
We have some business with advertisement in their windows of alchohol, cigarettes, suggested sex, etc., that will not allow space for a message that encourages people to inform on those who murder, even as they know murders need to be held responsible. Resident who put up signs of a lost pet or a yard sale but disapprove or remove signs of a lost of human life. Respecting life and changing more minds to what is right and instilling the good value of life is a goal worth standing up for, stand against those who shoot into crowds, will it hurt to get more messaages to the brain to respect life, report crime, and snitch on murder?.
There are cures in and around us, that need to start from home and spread family to family , block by block, sure there are a few we may not reach, there are those who conspire with thugs, know of or do drugs with their children and encourage some to not snitch, these persons are few, but their actions cause pain to many. Crime can and will some day hit almost everyone directly or indirectly in large cities or a small town, some people of high means engage in the same ills that fuel murder on streets of those who may be under serve in one way or another. Its not ok to take a life, its more then a bullet, a gun, and a few seconds behind a finger on the trigger that leaves families with regret for a life time and losses that can never be replace, start instilling a truth, it’s not ok to take a life.
Cherish Life,
Larry J
